Are you asking about the CHAIN that turn the chute from left to right??

There is a ~1/16" cable that wraps around the base of the chute and then goes down into the machine behind the impeller.

Please see a couple of posts in the Group dedicated to the Snowbird snow blowers in Yahoo Groups. A couple of the members there have disassembled their machines to get at that area and have shared detailed instructions on how to do it.

I am into doing the cable repair thing and am having trouble getting the split pin out of the impeller/shaft.

Why does your Snow blower auger leaves trail on side?

if it a 2 cycle, its probably a bad scrapper bar, this is underneath the unit & scrapes the driveway right behind the auger. or the rubber flights/spiral is worn out on the unit. if its 4 cycle check the skid shoes on the side of the snow blower housing, they wear out & drag. many people go through a set every season. if your going to be working by the auger, disconnect the spark plug wire first. put the unit on a flat place, set scrapper bar on an 1/8"-1/4" shim, install the new ones so they touch the ground. its like little skis for you blower!

What to do to make your snow blower throw more snow?

I don't think that's what it's suppossed to do ------ uh its in the name.... but i don't think there is a possible way to but i was thinking that leaf blowers might also work well XD

Snow blower auger won't turn?

why wont the blades/auger on my john deere snow blower turn? first thing i would check is to make sure there isn't a piece of wood or something jammed between the blades and housing. i don't know if your blower is shaft or belt driven. if belt driven check the belt and pulleys. if it is shaft driven try to spin the blades by hand, if they turn free then the shear pin is broke. look for a small round steel pin in the same are the blower shaft attaches. it should go through the shaft all the way from side to side.

What is a steep slide called?

A steep slide is commonly referred to as a "chute" or a "slope." These terms describe a sharply inclined surface that allows objects or individuals to slide quickly downhill.

Mycraftsman snow-blower model 536.881800 will not go forward or in reverse.what di I do to fix problem?

I just had the same problem. In my case. the bolt connecting the chain drive to the axle broke. Its an EASY fix! 1. Remove the pin on the crank handle that turns the chute. 2. Tip the snow blower backwards. 3. Loosen the two bolts at the rear of the bottom black pan, and remove the two in the front. 4. Remove the pan by tilting down and dropping out. 5. Move the wheels slightly to see if left chain moves in unison with the axle. If NOT> 6. Replace bolt #653 & nut #654. Reattach pan and tighten, and your good to go!
