The primary drivinf force for diffusion is a concentration gradient. There has to be an abundance of molecules at one region and a scarcity of molecules at another. This differential distribution of molecules where one region has more than the other is called a concentration gradient. In the presence of this gradient, diffusion occurs without the expenditure of energy. In cells, diffusion can occur through the cell membrane. Water molecules move into or out of the cell depending on where there are more water molecules. If there is more water outside the cell, water molecules move in and vice versa.

Can salt cause water to diffuse?

Yes, salt can cause water to diffuse through a process called osmosis. When salt is dissolved in water, it creates a concentration gradient, with a higher concentration of solute (salt) on one side of a semi-permeable membrane. Water will move from the area of lower solute concentration (more dilute) to the area of higher solute concentration (more concentrated) to balance the concentrations. This movement of water is what drives the diffusion process.

When water diffuse across a membrane how does it diffuse?

Diffuses when water is needed inside of the cell. It usually happens by a hyper-tonic or hypo-tonic solution. Wherever there is a high and low.. water diffuses. Water usually diffuses high to low. Water or any substance that has the ability to diffuse always diffuses from a high concentration to a low concentration. Through a cell memrane, it's the same thing. When we drink water, we gulp down a whole mouthfull. When it's time for it to diffuse, it goes into different cells. We drink in a high c. and the water goes in the cells in low concentration. Same thing when the water wants to come out. It goes to another place that needs it.

What kinds of molecules freely diffuse across a semipermeable membrane?

Water molecules freely diffuse across a semipermeable membrane.

State five essential conditions needed for photosynthesis to take place?

The five essential conditions needed for photosynthesis to take place are sunlight, carbon dioxide, water, chlorophyll, and enzymes. Without any of these conditions, photosynthesis cannot occur effectively.

Will carmine powder plus water cause diffusion?

Yes, carmine powder will diffuse in water because it is a water-soluble dye. When carmine powder is added to water, the particles will disperse and spread evenly throughout the water due to diffusion.

What are conditions necessary to cause water to diffuse out of a cell?

If the concentration of water inside the cell is higher, water will leave the cell. This would happen if a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution.

What is the effect of salt on plants?

Salts will cause water to diffuse out of plant vacuoles, leading their cells to become flaccid. Thus, the plant will wilt.

Does water diffuse towards the area with more water or less water?

diffuse towards area with more water . diffusion happens where it is from higher concentration to lower concentration . so more water of course higher concentration , less water of course lower concentration . this is what i think . but don guarantee correct answer .
