What are some cons of the Big Bang Theory?

• The Big Bang Theory does not explain what caused the Universe to come into existence, it only explains the Universe in its earliest stages of development
• It has a "horizon problem" and has trouble explaining why most of the Universe has a uniform temperature. A hypothesis called inflation seems to resolve it, in which the Universe experienced a very rapid expansion in its early stages, meaning the uniform temperature was able to spread out
• The Universe is said to be "flat" but according to observations it should not be this way. Again this is resolved by the inflationary hypothesis, which stretched out spacetime and made it "smooth and flat"
• The problem of magnetic monopoles is also solved by inflation
• At present, nobody can explain why matter is so absolutely prevalent in our Universe. With our present understanding, our Universe should be half matter and half anti-matter -- but that simply is not the case.

What started it. Was it just a spontaneous expansion of space (NOT an explosion of matter into empty space) or did some "God" like being begin this expansion of space.

Also, if inflation caused our Universe to expand far more rapidly than it does today, why did inflation stop?

Big Bang Cosmology fails to explain why our Universe is made up almost entirely of matter, with almost no anti-matter in it.

As the Big Crunch predicts that all matter would eventually collapse into black holes, which would then coalesce producing a unified black hole (or Big Crunch singularity). This hypothesis depends on the assumption that the density of the universe is greater than the critical density, then the strength of the gravitational force will stop the universe from expanding and the universe will collapse back on itself. However, if the density of the universe is less than the critical density, the universe will continue to expand and the gravitational pull will not be enough to stop the universe from expanding. Recent experimental evidence demonstrates that no only is the universe not slowing down as it cools, but the universe is actually increasing in its accelerating expansion.

While there are other theories abound, some even built upon the Theory of the Big Bang, the Big Bang itself is just one theory and does not postulate theories within it.

Actuallyother theories, like the Big Bang, are comparableto throwing a 35 cards into the air, randomly picking them up from the floot, and then finding that the order in which you find them is Ace, King, Queen, etc for all 35 cards. Sounds pretty amazing -- the odds against that is about 10^40 to one.
But it's NOT so amazing when you find out that 10^42 other people were doing the EXACT same thing as you were. Simple probability tells you that, if 10^42 attempts are made to do something, for which the odds against it are 10^40 to one, then it's no surprise to find one example of that thing happening.

Scientists will be the first to say that the existence of multi-celluar life in our Universe is rather amazing -- however this place came into being, it's VERY inhospitable to such life. But just consider the following:
1) there are about 10^22 stars just in that part of our Universe we can see.
2) the MINIMUM size of our Universe is 10^21 times larger than that infinitesmal part we can see.
That means there are at least 10^43 stars in our Universe. Yes, the odds of one of those stars, totally at random, being just right to support multi-celluar life is pretty slim. But when you have 10^43 stars to start with, the fact that ONE of them has all of those qualities is less amazing.

At present we are only guessing at how unlikely it is for a star to have a planet with multi-celluar life on it. At present, we lack the ability to know even how many stars have small, rocky planets orbiting around them. However, since about half of the stars we've been able to survey have large gas giant planets orbiting around them, it will be no surprise if a there are a billion such stars just in our Milky Way Galaxy.

And this ignores the following:
1) Our Universe may be LARGER than the minimum I just noted. It may be infinite.
2) There may be other Universes out there, in a multi-verse we can barely imagine. There may be 10^500 of them!
