It turns out they are called 'Gasometers'- do an image search & you'll see heaps of them. Something to do with regulating domestic gas pressure I think. On wikipedia they are called 'Gas holder'
I always wondered what they were too, I saw many in London and some in cities down here in Australia.

What are hydrogen fuel tanks made from?

Hydrogen fuel tanks are typically made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) or composite materials. These materials are chosen for their lightweight properties and ability to safely store hydrogen gas at high pressures. Additionally, some tanks may also use metal liners for added strength and durability.

What are onshore structures?

Onshore structures are man-made facilities located on land to support oil and gas exploration, production, and processing. These structures can include drilling rigs, production facilities, pipelines, storage tanks, and refineries. They are critical in the extraction and processing of oil and gas resources found on land.

How does sacrificial protection work?

Sacrificial protection is basically attaching a piece of metal that is more reactive that iron to the object made of iron. This more reactive metal, commonly magnesium or zinc, will corrode in the place of iron. That is, the more reactive metal will feed the iron with electrons each time the iron is oxidised to form iron ions, thus reverting it to iron once again instead of letting it become iron hydroxide (rust). Thus, the more reactive metal is sacrificed for the iron.

What are ballast tanks made out of?

Ballast tanks are typically made out of steel to withstand the pressure of water when the tanks are filled or emptied. Some tanks may also be lined with coatings to prevent corrosion and improve durability. Additionally, modern ballast tanks may incorporate advanced materials such as fiberglass or reinforced plastics for lighter weight and increased resistance to corrosion.

Are round water tanks stronger?

A spherical water tank is stronger, as any forces, internally and externally, is spread around the surface evenly. Also, there is a weakness in cuboid shaped tanks at the seams and corners where the metal has been bent to form the squarish shape.

Some were.

Does a 1997 dodge neon have a plastic or metal fuel tank?

95 and early 96 have metal fuel tanks, late 96 and beyond have plastic fuel tanks. FYI 95 and early 96 have round pin connectors on ignition coils. Late 96 and beyond have flat pin connectors... don't order the wrong coil, it's very frustrating!

What are army tanks made of?

I have a couple of used hot water tanks to sell, how much money could I possibly get for them?

Recycling centers pay for scrap metal by the pound. Therefore, how much you can get depends on the size of the tanks. There is not a very big market for used hot water tanks, for safety reasons. You may be better off trying to sell the tanks as scrap metal.

What are titanium tanks?

Titanium tanks are storage vessels or containers made primarily of titanium metal. Titanium is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability, making it ideal for applications where lightweight and strong materials are required, such as in aerospace, chemical processing, and military industries. These tanks are often used for storing corrosive chemicals, highly reactive substances, or in environments where conventional materials might degrade or fail. When it comes to titanium tanks, I can say that Ladhani Metal Corporation is one of the best-specialised round bars manufacturing companies in India. Are bladder water tanks durable?

Bladder water tanks are relatively durable, however they will not last as long as steel and other metal water tanks. They are very favorable, however, for when you need your water tank to be mobile, as they are easy to transport.
