Meteorologists study meteo- er... the atmosphere. There are other atmospherological (it's fun to make up words) researchers but the largest study of the atmosphere is done by meteorologists. Some predict the weather (and fail) whilst others study to better predict future weather. Also some physicists study the atmosphere to further random physical studies.
