Autonomic Nervous System is part of the peripheral nervous system (in the limbs and parts of the body outside the Brain and spinal cord) which is INVOLUNTARY, and not under our concious control. Thus it controls things like the heart and breathing that we need in order to survive. it is the opposite to the somatic nervous system which is voluntary. like arm muscle movements etc.

the ANS uses sympathetic (adrenaline) and parasympathetic (acetylcholine) controls.

motor fibers that conduct nerve impulses from the CNS to smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and glands :)
