Cell Vacuoles are only in plant cells. They store the cell's water and mineral source that takes up a big portion of the cell. It inflates and deflates according to the amount of liquid being supplied. When you see a plant that looks dried up and old, that is because of the lack of water present in the sample, and the cells shrink to conserve the water that is left. The vacuoles provide external pressure that helps keep the plant standing nice. That is why in stores that sell fruits and vegetables, they spray a mist on them to make them have the appearance they are brand new, when in reality the plants vacuoles just really absorbed the water through the cell wall via Osmosis.
