starch will not change its own colour but it can change the colour of iodine solution. iodine solution is originally brown. after adding starch, it will turn into dark blue.
An indicator is a substance that changes colour in the presence of another substance. Let say inside the beaker are substances of both glucose and starch. The glucose and starch are of same colour.
