In Kenya, we eat most foods that you eat...I'm assuming you are in the West..so we have the burgers and hotdogs and French fries (only we call them chips). However, such foods are considered 'high brow' foods, not everyone can afford a staple diet of them.

So we mainly eat beans, maize ( a mix of both is called 'githeri'), carrots, tomatoes, kales, cauliflower, capsicum, coriander, spinach, onions, beetroot, cucumber...etc. All these are found in plenty and are basically very affordable for the average Kenyan.

Meats are beef, goat meat, chicken, fish (most species), its rare to eat game meat, but some hotels have began specialising in them. We're still a tad skeptical about them so we do not eat them that much. Game meat includes ostrich, crocodile, antelope meats, etc.

Now fruits. These are also in plenty, of course depending on the season, but with some like mangoes and bananas, one hardly notices when they are not in season as they are often found in one place or another. In addition, we eat luqorts, plums, apples, grapes, pawpaws, watermelons, guavas, peaches, Oranges, and other fruits whose names we mostly know according to our tribes, there's no known English name for them...or maybe I'm the one without the know!
