After a search on internet I found that there have actually been made recipes in the 15th and 16th century regarding this particular plant.

It does not seem to have a deadly effect as the taste is repulsive and highly noticeable.

The basics of the recipes was that it could be mixed with salad, or the dried root could be powdered and sprinkled on top of meat.

This was something for those guests you did not want to return and eat at your table.

It is known from The Bible, here it seems like something making infertile women fertile.
