A separation technique is something used to separate an object from it's mixture. For example, in a bowl you have chalk, chalk dust, salt, and paperclips. You'd use magnetic attraction to get the paperclips out. Then you'd use your hands and take out the chalk. And then, you use a sifting tool and it'll separate the salt and chalk dust by itself. But, another cool way to separate those two is to put them in water. The salt will eventually sink because it's denser than water, and the chalk dust will float because it is less dense.
