That's a funny question. People say we have harsh winters but I've only ever experienced Québec and Ontario weather so it has never been more than I can easily bear.
We have four distinct seasons, (spring, summer, winter fall)
It only feels like Spring about 2 or more weeks after March 21st where we get rain a few times a week and temperatures are below 15ºC daily for a couple months.
Summers can get quite hot in the city with heatwaves over 35ºC and humid. Typically though Summers are gorgeous and well spent outside. Air near the water (St.Lawrence River, Lac St.Louis etc.) will cool you off nicely. Sun showers aren't uncommon.
Fall isn't special as far as the weather goes. They can be very chilly and days feel rather short. Wardrobe would be gloves and a sweater and windbreaker (or equivalent).
Winter is fabulous in Québec! Montréal after a snowfal is beautiful but if it gets above freezing it's not at all charming. The past couple of years we've gotten quite a lot of snow (our usual precipitation, I'd say from late November to early March) with several snowfalls of 15-25cm. Temperatures stay below freezing (0ºC) most of the season and can get below -35ºC with the wind chill. It's rather wet as far as I can tell, and lots of shovelling. Public transit can be worth waiting for.
