A neuron is an electrically excitable cell, that transmits signals (after processing) to another neuron or tissue. It sends out information to the brain.
An idealized neuron has dendrites shown on top and axon at the bottom. They are used in artificial nets to model brain function.
The basic functioning unit of the central nervous system is the neuron. Neurons are specialized cells that transmit information through electrical and chemical signals. They form intricate networks that facilitate communication within the brain and spinal cord.
The basic unit of the nervous system is the neuron. Neurons are specialized cells that transmit signals in the form of electrical impulses to communicate information throughout the body. They have a cell body, dendrites to receive signals, and an axon to transmit signals.
It is a ray of radiation. conducts muscle movement.
It depends on the perspective of course. A' basic element of behaviour could mean more than one thing. For e.g., aggression is a basic element of behaviour, while the act of aggression is a manifestation of this. And a basic element of aggression could be seen as an organic disorder of the limbic system involving serotonergic neurotransmission. And a basic element of the latter would of course be the state and activity of neural networks within the limbic system - which would make the humble neuron a basic element of this. So you see, there are many layers of abstraction: Neuron -> Network -> Many networks -> Behavior. In other words, it really doesn't make sense to call a neuron 'a basic element of behavior' because all a neuron really is is a basic element of the brain. Behavior is a result of brain function. And without knowing what that function is (I mean mathematically) it would be a fallacy to link the two.
The function of a neuron is to transfer messages throughout the brain. These neurons are all attached and interpret everything that happens.
This is just terminology. Neuron = 'nerve cell'
nerves are white tough and string like structure there r two types of nerves sensory nerve and motor nerve neuron.............. neuron is basic unit of structure and function of nervous system ..........brain spinal cord and nerves are made up of neurons

The dendrites receive the data or signal from another neuron for the soma.

the basic functional unit of the nervous system is the neuron.
The basic nerve cell is called a neuron. Neurons are specialized cells that transmit information in the form of electrical signals throughout the body. They play a crucial role in the functioning of the nervous system.
The soma, also known as the cell body, is located in the center of a neuron. It contains the nucleus and other organelles essential for the neuron's function.
transmission of nerve impulses from the sensory neuron to the motor neuron, located in the central nervous system.
It depends on what you mean by 'main'. The AXON is the part which CONVEYS the neural impulse, which could be thought of as the main FUNCTION of the neuron. But the DENDRITES are the parts which assess whether the neuron has been stimulated enough to fire the axon, which is another fundamental function of some neurons. And the BODY (soma) of the neuron is very much a 'main' part of the neuron, because without it the neuron would die.
