There is no SI base unit for capacity.

It isn't needed. Capacity (volume) is any unit of length, cubed, so all you need

is a length unit.

The SI unit of length is the 'meter' in the US and Canada. In many other places,

the corresponding unit is the 'metre'. Their magnitudes are equal, by international

agreement, and they can be used interchangeably.

Units of capacity that derive from the meter/metre include the cm3, the liter, the

cubic meter, the cubic kilometer, the mL, and others.
