The name of Pluto's newest moon is S/2012 (134340) 1. It was announced on July 11, 2012 that a team of astronomers, using NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, discovered the new moon. The astronomers discovered the moon by using nine sets of images taken by the Wide Field Camera 3 fitted to the Hubble Telescope between June 26, 2012 and July 9, 2012.
