Nimbostratus
Stratus clouds are typically associated with light rain and drizzle. These low-level clouds form a thick, gray layer that can produce steady, light precipitation over a large area.
Stratus clouds are uniform and ressemble fog at times. Usually there is no precipitation. Nimbostratus clouds are typically followed by rain causing them to be a darker grey color.
The low cloud group includes clouds that form below 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) such as stratus, cumulus, and stratocumulus clouds. These clouds are typically associated with overcast skies and can bring light rain or drizzle.

You mean stratus clouds? Stratus clouds can bring rain but not tornadoes.
Stratus clouds are associated with long periods of light to moderate rain or snow.
Because there can be a lot of water in warm air, stratus clouds can easily turn into dark, rain and snow-producing nimbostratus clouds.
Stratus clouds bring, small amounts of rain. I may be wrong but I have a test on Clouds tomorrow so I should know. And for you information stratus clouds look like a long, fluffy, blanket, and are usually are gray. So when you see stratus clouds you MAY have rain. Like I said I can't promise you that every stratus cloud will bring little rain. So if you'll be walking on a day stratus clouds will be out, bring a umbrella, just in case. Date 9/4/12

No, not all stratus clouds bring rain and thunderstorms. Stratus clouds are generally associated with overcast or cloudy weather, but they do not necessarily produce precipitation or thunderstorms. Rain and thunderstorms are more commonly associated with cumulonimbus clouds.
Stratus clouds can bring light drizzle or steady light rain, but they are not typically associated with heavy rainfall. These clouds are low-lying and often cover the sky in a uniform layer, which can lead to prolonged periods of light rain or mist.
