If you pressure washed the house and now some of the outlets don't work I suggest that the house didn't "run out of electricity", but you probably got water into one or more of the outside outlets. Most outlets on newer homes are equipped with a special breaker called a "Ground Fault Interrupter" which is a device that is intended to keep YOU from being shocked. The GFI is probably reacting normally to the wet condition and will probably function normally once the water has evaporated. Wait until you think everything is dry then try to reset it again.

What if your bathrooms outlets are not working 4 outlets but the circuit breaker is not fliped How do you figure out what the problem is?

Your bathroom outlets might be connected to a GFCI Outlet. The Ground Fault Circuit Intercept outlet prevents you from electrocuting yourself in the odd chance that you drop an electrical appliance into the water of the bath tub while you're in it. Look around and see if there's one outlet with 2 buttons on it labeled Test and Reset and if you find one hit the Reset button and see if the other outlets start working.

Lowering Your Average Electricity Bill Per Month?

One of the best ways to lower your average electricity bill per month is to run all of your electronics through power strips that you can turn off at night. If the electronics are still plugged into the wall on their own, they will be using electricity all night long -- even if you have turned them off. Power strips have an on/off button that can cut off the charge, and they are not susceptible to this same problem. If a power strip is turned off, there is no current. Doing this can cut your electricity bill by a fifth.

How do you check a ground fault interrupter?

There is only 2 forms of Ground fault protection. A breaker or a recptacle (stadard plugs and outlets). Both are obvious to the naked eye. A recptacle will have a test and reset button that will turn it on and off. This is a sensor that constantly monitors the diffence of potential between the HOT wire and the grounded conductor . If this gets to and unacceptable limit It will trip. The breaker will have a test and reset button next to the switch. The complicated part is that 1 GFI outlet can protect multiple outlets. When it is hooked up it has an option to Downstream other outlets. Theese outlets are then monitored by the same sensor in parralel with the first. The best way is to push the test button and check for outlets that shut of with the GFI. Code requires a GFI protected outlets to have a sticker on it stating that fact. A breaker wll protect the entire circiut from ground faults provided it is hooked up correctly.
