the underlying basis for how the environment affects genetics is to do with mutation in DNA. Many chemical compounds in the environment and even UV light from the sun cause changes in the genetic code of an individual. If you consider DNA to be the instructions on how make a person it is easy to see that by changing these instructions the end results will be different. In most cases these changes go unnoticed but if enough accumulate in the right genes you are likely to develop cancer and are at a high risk of dying and therefore not passing on your DNA to your children. However if mutations occur in the gametes (sperm and egg cells) then changes to DNA may be passed on to your children and it is in the way that the environment affects genetics.

What can influence traits?

Environment and Nutrition are two factors that affect our traits. The foods we eat affect our traits. Also, one of our traits is our personality. So, the environment is a factor of our personality. Hope this helped! :)

Does genes play a more important role in personality traits than environment?

The best way to test the effect of genetic versus environment is to conduct studies in identical twins because one can never hold environment perfectly constant, but identical twins are perfect genetic matches. Studies show that behavioral traits like sexual preference, depression, schizophrenia and other cognitive and behavioral disorders and even preferences are mostly shaped by environment, and have a very minor genetic component.

WHAT NATURAL SELECTION CAN ONLY ACT ON WHICH TRAITS?

Natural selection can only act on traits that have a genetic basis, meaning they are heritable and can be passed from one generation to the next. These traits must also affect an organism's fitness, influencing its ability to survive and reproduce in its environment. Additionally, natural selection operates on phenotypic traits, which are the observable characteristics resulting from the interaction of genetics and the environment. Traits that are not expressed or that do not impact survival and reproduction are not subject to natural selection.

What is phenotypically?

Phenotypically refers to the observable characteristics or traits of an organism, resulting from the interaction of its genetic makeup and the environment. These traits can include physical appearance, behavior, and other measurable features.

How does natural selection affect the kinds of spieces that will live in an environment that is changing?

A organism with traits that are suited to a certain environment have a better chance of surviving than organisms who's traits are not suited for the environment.

What best describes the factors that affect a phenotype?

The genotype and the environment both affect a phenotype.

What can affect organisms traits?

genes and the environment

What genetic traits make organisms more likely to survive and reproduce in a particular environment?

Genetic traits that make organisms more likely to survive and reproduce in a particular environment include adaptations such as camouflaging, efficient metabolism, disease resistance, and reproductive strategies suited to the environment's challenges. These traits increase an organism's chances of successfully passing on its genes to the next generation, enhancing its overall fitness in that environment.

How acquired traits affect evolution?

Acquired traits cannot be passed on to offspring through genetic inheritance, so they do not directly affect evolution. Evolution occurs through changes in the genetic composition of a population over generations, primarily driven by natural selection acting on inherited traits. Evolution is influenced by genetic variations that arise through mutation and recombination, not by acquired traits acquired during an individual's lifetime.

How a mutation may not affect an organisms traits?

A mutation does not affect an organism trait for a reason. It is neutral which depends on the environment.

How does genetic perturbation impact the expression of specific traits in an organism?

Genetic perturbation can affect the expression of specific traits in an organism by disrupting the normal functioning of genes. This disruption can lead to changes in the proteins produced by the genes, ultimately altering the traits that are expressed in the organism.
