Alleles
Homologous chromosomes. They are two chromosomes, one inherited from each parent, that have the same genes at the same loci but may have different alleles.
Two copies of a gene are called alleles. Alleles can be the same (homozygous) or different (heterozygous).
The condition called in a case when you have a two different types of alleles is called as Heterozygous and when this is exactly the opposite that is when it has the alleles for the same source we describe such a condition as a Homozygous. This two terms are of most importance when you take the genetics

All chromosomes consist of genes and non coding material. Animals with chromosomes arranged in the double helix pattern have two almost identical genes on the chromosomes opposite from the other. When those two genes in particular are discussed, they are called alleles. Frequently one is expressed and one is not, or one is dominant and the other is not.
