Why do people promote vegetarianism as a possible answer to produce enough food?

When animals are produced for food they have to be fed something. Even cows don't only eat grass. The plants they eat could often be eaten by people, saving the field space used by the animals, and also saving the planet from the methane emitted by the animals as they digest their food. If we eat the plants directly, we also produce methane (obviously!), but there's a lower total than if cows etc produce it and we then eat them. Also if we only eat vegetables there is a lot more land area freed up to produce them. When animals are produced for food they have to be fed something. Even cows don't only eat grass. How do people on a station get food?

Food is typically brought to a space station by cargo spacecraft or resupply missions from Earth. Food is carefully packaged and stored to ensure it remains fresh. Space station crew members have a designated pantry where they store their food, and meals are prepared in a galley using rehydratable or pre-packaged items.

Can you eat through a space suit?

No. In the past spacesuits have had food inside and all spacesuits have drinking water in them. But, neither food nor water can go through the suits when they are pressurized.
