It is unlikely that all of your mice die suddenly of old age. There must have been disease/virus/bacteria etc that caused the death of the mice. One mouse probably caught it and introduced it to the others. If you had just recently gotten a new mouse and introduced it to the others without quarantine, it could have had an infectious disease that ended up killing all the mice. This illustrates the importance of quarantine when you buy a new mouse. If they had been eating the same food then it may also have been something they had eaten - they could have eaten something poisenous.

What effect did an injection of dead S bacteria have on the mice griffith studied?

The injection of dead S bacteria by Griffith resulted in no harmful effects on the mice. However, when the live R strain was injected along with the dead S bacteria, it caused the mice to become sick and die. This experiment demonstrated that the genetic material from the dead S strain could transform the harmless R strain into a deadly one.

The pathogenic DNA from the dead bacteria became active when combined with the DNA in the live bacteria. When injected into the mice, this reactivated DNA caused the disease and the mice died.

Which organisms would most likely be adversely affected by a continuous decrease in the population of mice?

Organisms that would most likely be adversely affected by a continuous decrease in the population of mice include predators such as owls, hawks, and foxes that rely on mice as a primary food source. Additionally, scavengers and opportunistic feeders, like some snakes and raccoons, may also experience negative impacts due to the reduced availability of this food resource. The decline in mice could disrupt the local food web, potentially leading to broader ecological consequences.

3 cats, 3 rats in 3 minutes means that each cat finishes one rat in 3 minutes. 100 cats would be able to eat 100 rats in 3 minutes, as long as they don't get sidetracked into fighting or mating that is.
