Trivial Effects of a World Without The Limiting Force of Friction:
Automobiles, ships, and most aircraft would be useless: If you could ever get them moving, steering would be impossible, and stopping safely would be almost impossible. It would be worse than trying to move around on slick, wet ice everywhere. Everything would have to be tethered (tied down). It would be very difficult, or impossible, to pick up a coin from a flat surface. It would be difficult to pick up, and hold, a glass of water, and to keep from spilling it.
Without Friction, There Would Be No life.
There would be many other consequences as well, in a frictionless world. Everyone, and everything not tied down, would be sliding all over the place, including the water in our lakes, rivers and oceans. Gravity would become the defining force, and the continents would become unstable and easy prey to it. Indeed, life itself would quickly become doubtful at best, but almost certainly, impossible.
Others Have Said:
The world with no friction would be chaos. Nothing would stay where you put it. Everything would slide around. With friction, most things stay where you leave them, except things like a ball on a slope.
You would never feel the wind again. Meteorites would not slow down, liquefy, or break up before hitting Earth, so each would strike Earth's surface with greater mass, and more force than friction would allow.
Basketball would be really entertaining to watch, but not fun to play. Friction allows the players' shoes to grip the floor, and their hands to grip the ball. Without friction they'd be falling down all the time and they couldn't hang onto the ball, much less catch it.
In a frictionless world, if a ball were rolled (set in motion), it would never stop rolling. Walking or standing would be impossible. Obviously, everything concerning Earth's surface, and how we use it, would be very different.
well first frog and more animals would dye
Any life that formed in a universe that somehow did not include friction would be so thoroughly different from organisms as we know them that (especially since you havent mentioned the mechanism by which friction was... removed?) I doubt any of us could imagine it.
Without people, the world would return to a more natural state with ecosystems functioning without human intervention. Cities and structures would decay, and wildlife would reclaim urban areas. Climate change and pollution would likely improve as human activities ceased.
A world without suffering would likely be more peaceful, harmonious, and compassionate. People would likely experience more joy, fulfillment, and contentment in their lives without the burden of pain and suffering. It would likely lead to greater empathy and understanding among individuals, fostering stronger connections and relationships.
A world without fairness would likely be marked by increased inequality, social unrest, and lack of trust among individuals and institutions. Without fairness, people may become disenfranchised, leading to higher levels of conflict and dissatisfaction in society. Ultimately, a lack of fairness could erode the social fabric and stability of the world.
That sounds kind of like a world without friction.
you would be sliding and jumping all around just imagine there's nothing t pull you down
Without frictin life would be very slippery. This topic has been explored in a novel by Philip Jose Farmer entitled "The Lavalite World".
Friction provides the necessary force to keep the building materials in place and withstand external forces like wind and earthquakes. Without friction, the structure would not be stable and would be prone to collapse. Friction is crucial for ensuring the integrity and safety of the building.
Yes it would, thank God for rolling friction
Without friction, driving a car would be like driving on a very slippery surface, such as ice. The lack of friction would make it difficult to accelerate, brake, or steer the vehicle effectively, leading to a loss of control and unsafe driving conditions.
Everything will be in motion wihtout no control.
A world without Buddhism.
The world would suck without skate boarding because without it what would be fun?
yes, without it the play field would act like a skating rink!
Friction is essential for Walking and other movement. So obviously it is of paramount importance in football. Without friction, A player can't grip the ball, the ground pr other players. Running, which is the base of football, doesnt exist without friction. Hence, no friction = no football.
Climbing a rope without friction would be extremely difficult as there would be nothing to grip onto to support your weight. You would likely struggle to make any progress and may not be able to ascend the rope at all. It would require a different set of skills and techniques than traditional rope climbing.
