The Tamu Massif, located in the northwest Pacific Ocean, is a large underwater shield volcano. It is believed to have last erupted around 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period. This massive volcanic structure is primarily composed of basalt and is one of the largest volcanic features on Earth. Since its last eruption, there has been no significant volcanic activity recorded at Tamu Massif.
