Daylight Savings Time:
Starts in the US on the second Sunday in March when clocks are set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time, which becomes 3:00 a.m. local daylight time
Ends in the US on the first Sunday in November when clocks are set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1:00 a.m. local standard time.
These dates were established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Pub. L. no. 109-58, 119 Stat 594 (2005). NOTE - Hawaii and most of Arizona do not use DST
* In 2008, DST begins on March 9 and ends on November 2. * In 2009, DST begins on March 8 and ends on November 1. Many other countries observe "summer time", but may not change their clocks on the same dates as the U.S. Daylight time and time zones in the U.S. are defined in the U.S. Code, Title 15, Chapter 6, Subchapter IX - Standard Time.

Daylight saving time was in use in 1963, but in the United States the beginning and end of daylight saving time wasn't standardized (with states having the right to opt out of DST observance) until the passage of the Uniform Time Act of 1966.

In 2014, daylight savings time began on Sunday March 30th, and will end October 26. In 2015, daylight savings time is expected to begin on Sunday, March 29th, extending until October 25th.
