Tripods have been used since ancient times, with some of the earliest examples dating back to around 400 BC in Greece, where they were often used for holding cauldrons over fires or for religious purposes. The design evolved over the centuries, becoming more refined during the Renaissance, particularly for use in Photography and art. Modern photographic tripods began to appear in the 19th century with the advent of camera technology.
