If we told you, it wouldn't be a secret.
Solution caves (which is the kind that most people think of when they hear the word "cave") are found commonly in a type of terrain known as "karst". In the United States, one area with extensive karst terrain is southern Missouri; you can go to the US Geological Survey and get topographic maps which will show the entrances to known caves (there are literally thousands of these in Missouri). Be sure you get the landowner's permission before visiting a cave.
Some caves that aren't "secret" but that you don't need special permissionto visit(you are required to attend a short presentation at the park's interpretive center before entering the caves) are those in Maquoketa Caves State Park in eastern Iowa, which has several caves you can explore. +++ Sorry about my slightly flippant answer but I didn't realise what you meant, because the topic fields have been muddied a bit by references to games, and you'd used a capital S that suggested a proper noun. Also the second answer highlights cave publicity and access arrangementsthat may be particular to parts of America and not known in the UK. We do have cave access controls of various forms in Britain, often perhaps similar to those in Missouri, but the caves themselves are not "secret", so that's a concept unfamiliar to me. I think the US administration of National Parks is very different to that of British ones, too.)
Caves
Carlsbad Caverns were primarily formed by the dissolving of limestone by acidic groundwater. The caverns were then further carved out by the movement of water, creating the vast network of interconnected caves and caverns underground. The process of cave formation is ongoing, with some areas still being slowly shaped by the forces of nature today.
The physical weathering and chemical weathering process creates Karst topography and landscapes. Caves and Caverns are common of Karst topography.
Is it exceptionally cold? I'd be surprised if it is. I can't speak for Carlsbad Caverns as I've never visited it, nor studied its formal descriptions and survey, but the mean annual air temperature in most major caves stabilises at that of the air in their local area. This makes caves seem warm in Winter and cool in Summer, and if the annual temperature range of New Mexico is high then the effect on the region's caves will be more marked. Given that Carlsbad Caverns are in a hot area in Summer, when I imagine it attracts most visitors, the cave will therefore feel chilly compared to the heat outside.
When limestone is eaten away, it forms various features such as sinkholes, caves, and underground tunnels. This process occurs due to the dissolution of the limestone by acidic groundwater. The result is the creation of unique and sometimes expansive underground landscapes.
Caves and caverns are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference. Caves are natural underground spaces large enough for humans to enter, formed by various geological processes like erosion and dissolution. Caverns, on the other hand, specifically refer to larger, more complex types of caves that often feature intricate formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, typically created by the dripping of mineral-rich water. In essence, all caverns are caves, but not all caves qualify as caverns.
Caves, caverns, and sinkholes are typically formed by the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone, dolomite, or gypsum by water. Over time, water erodes and dissolves the rock, creating underground cavities and passages. Eventually, these cavities can collapse or become exposed at the surface, forming caves, caverns, and sinkholes.
mostly in cold places
Yes, there are caves in Hector, NY. One notable cave in the area is the Secret Caverns, which offers guided underground tours for visitors to explore the unique rock formations and underground waterfalls.
No. Mammoth Cave is in Kentucky and Carlsbad Caverns is in New Mexico.

The two features formed by underground weathering are caves and caverns. Caves are natural underground chambers typically formed in limestone, while caverns are larger caves that often have unique formations such as stalactites and stalagmites.
