However, Ozone is an allotrope of oxygen.

Atmospheric oxygen is a diatomic molecule (O2) ; structurally, each oxygen atoms is doubly bonded to its partner atom; ' O=O '.

However, ozone is a molecule of three(3) oxygen atoms. The three oxygen atoms are structurally arranged in a triangular formation. Any one of the oxygen atoms makes two single covalent bonds to each of the other two oxygen atoms, which makes for a triangular structure.

NB An Allotrope os an elements atoms arranged in a different structure, thereby giving it differen**t physical** characteristics.

Do NOT confuse with ISOTOPE.
