From Gray's Anatomy:
"Reproduction of cells is effected either by direct or by indirect division. In reproduction by direct divisionthe nucleus becomes constricted in its center, assuming an hour-glass shape, and then divides into two. This is followed by a cleavage or division of the whole protoplasmic mass of the cell; and thus two daughter cells are formed, each containing a nucleus. "
Direct division does not involve the separation and copying/doubling of chromosomes, also called amitosis.
MITOSIS, studied in most Biology classes, is a more complex four step reproduction process. Once again, according to Gray, "It is possible that cell division may always take place by the indirect method." Mitosis is generally more common that amitosis. It is indirect because a cell doesnt just split in half, it prepares to split into two identical halves that are each whole and ready to grow and reproduce again.
The process of nuclear division that creates two new identical nuclei is called mitosis. During mitosis, the duplicated chromosomes are separated into two identical sets and distributed into separate nuclei.
Mitosis is simple cell division which produces two identical daughter cells.
Strictly speaking, mitosis refers to the division of the cell nucleus. Division of the cytoplasm is called cytokinesis. The two processes are not necessarily connected. Mitosis can occur without a subsequent division of the cytoplasm.
In mitosis, the division of the nucleus is carried out by the spindle fibers. These fibers are formed by the microtubules and are responsible for separating the duplicated chromosomes into two sets in the process called cytokinesis.

Mitosis is the process of cell division. There are 6 stages:InterphaseProphasePrometaphaseMetaphaseAnaphaseTelophase
Mitosis
The division of the cell nucleus is called mitosis. During mitosis, the cell's chromosomes are replicated and divided equally into two daughter cells. This process ensures that each new cell receives a complete set of genetic information.

Nuclear division in eukaryotic cells is called mitosis.
The division of the M phase is called cytokinesis, which is the process of dividing the cytoplasm of a parent cell into two daughter cells. It occurs after the completion of mitosis, which is the division of the nucleus.
Mitosis and Meiosis.
The division of nucleus and its parts during cell division is called Cytokinesis.Firstly, during Prophase the nucleus membrane starts disappearing and then after(Metaphase,Anaphase)it, in Telophase it again appears when the daughter cells are almost forming. Here the division of nucleus ends an then the division of cytoplasm takes place which is called Karyokinesis.
The process of nuclear division that creates two new identical nuclei is called mitosis. During mitosis, the duplicated chromosomes are separated into two identical sets and distributed into separate nuclei.
