It is unusual for a hurricane to turn make a westward turn towards the U.S. east coast. Most hurricanes that occur in that region will tend to make and eastward turn out to sea. Sandy also intensified do to interaction with and extratropical storm system in a manner not seen since the Perfect Storm of 1991.
Hurricane Sandy started in the Caribbean Sea and moved north, hitting Jamaica, Cuba, and the Bahamas before striking the U.S. east coast with the worst effects being in New York and New Jersey. Hurricane Sandy also had effects in Haiti, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Bermuda.
Six months after the storm some areas are still rebuilding.
Hurricane Sandy occurred in New York due to a combination of atmospheric and oceanic conditions. In late October 2012, Sandy formed in the Caribbean and gained strength as it moved northward, interacting with a cold front and an upper-level trough. This unique convergence of weather systems caused Sandy to take an unusual left turn towards the U.S. East Coast, making landfall in New Jersey and impacting New York with storm surge, high winds, and heavy rainfall. The geography of New York, particularly its low-lying coastal areas, made it particularly vulnerable to the storm's effects.
Only to a limited degree. Many hurricanes do follow the same general trend in the paths they take. While the general path of a hurricane can be predicted within reason, the exact path of a hurricane is never quite certain. Furthermore, some hurricanes do follow unusual paths.
Hurricane Ike occurred in September 2008. It made landfall in the United States on the Texas coast as a Category 2 hurricane.

While the SuperStorm has passed, the cleanup may take weeks.
I would take a guess and say yes.
Six months after the storm some areas are still rebuilding.
Yes, but it will take a while to recover in some areas. However, it did bring the country together, and may affect the 2012 election.
yes. a hurricane is very strong.

It depends, as "worst" is a subjective term. In terms of monetary loss it was the single costliest hurricane in U.S. history with $108 billion in damage. With adjustment for inflation that works out to $128 billion in 2012 dollars. This far outstrips Hurricane Sandy, which ranks second at $65-75 billion. It is among the five deadliest U.S. hurricanes but it does not take second place in that regard.
So you don't get stuck in a hurricane. Google Hurricane Katrina for more examples.
go to the beach using your map and you will see the marina take the boat from there and it will take you to Sandy bear island

A hurricane watch means conditions are favorable for a hurricane to develop in the specified area within 48 hours. A hurricane alert, on the other hand, is issued when a hurricane has formed in a specific area, and people should take immediate action to protect themselves and their property.
