Because magnesium atoms have 12 protons in their nuclei, which means that the atomic number of magnesium is 12. The elements on the Periodic Table are arranged in order of atomic number.

Gadolinium is in the middle of the lanthanide sequence on the periodic table. (The lanthanide sequence is the skinny part at the bottom that, in some periodic tables, is put off to the side.)
I know that there are over a hundred but you can't always say because when more elements are discovered they are put on the periodic table on the standard table there are 118,
No,its not Dmitri Mendeleev.Dmitri Mendeleev create the first periodic table but mostly it was wrong....he arranged them by the atomic number when it should have been by increasing the atomic number(and ya there's a difference)..the one that rearranged it was Henry Moseley.
The periodic table was originally invented in 1958 when B. Cosby decided that he didn't need a table in his kitchen all the time. Dr. Cosby originally put claw feet on the table, and named the table for the the comma like shape of the feet. But the name he chose, the comic table did not catch on as potential buyers expected the table to be funny and tell jokes. The name was changed to periodic table shortly thereafter in the spring of 1960 to reflect the fact that many women bought this table in an act of shopping-madness induced by their menses. This little known fact was obscured by a popular rumor that the divots carved about the edges of the table were actually punctuation marks and hence the name. Today periodic table is recovering from alcoholism and is undergoing treatment at the Betty Ford clinic.

So people know!
Water and chlorine.
becuz its an element and thats what the tables made for
Yes they do that is why they are put that way.
Figurative sense - they recorded the periodic table for the advancement of science Literal sense - because paper would be more convenient to carry around?

my making your gand chikni mast malai crunchy put your LUN into a girl GAND then take chess this is called ROMANCE in periodic table.
in ascending order by atomic number (number of protons) of an atom of a particular element. previously, the periodic table had elements ordered by atomic mass.
