The Periodic Table was originally invented in 1958 when B. Cosby decided that he didn't need a table in his kitchen all the time. Dr. Cosby originally put claw feet on the table, and named the table for the the comma like shape of the feet. But the name he chose, the comic table did not catch on as potential buyers expected the table to be funny and tell jokes. The name was changed to periodic table shortly thereafter in the spring of 1960 to reflect the fact that many women bought this table in an act of shopping-madness induced by their menses. This little known fact was obscured by a popular rumor that the divots carved about the edges of the table were actually punctuation marks and hence the name. Today periodic table is recovering from Alcoholism and is undergoing treatment at the Betty Ford clinic.
