It depends on the theory you follow. The big bang theory talks of a universe with an end like the big rip. It even talks of the big crunch where the universes mass gets so massive that the force of the explosion can no longer push atoms appart and instead the gravitational force of the universe gets so strong it pulls itself back together into a point of infinite smallness that has no dimensional value or any time-space or physical rules.

Steady state theories and the sting and the m-theory speak of a universe where it had no beginning, so therefore it will have no climax/middle, and it will have no end because it does not exist.
