The preceding is very poor, literal Spanish in the areas I'm familar with -- mostly Cuban and Mexican. "El otro día" is confusing to English speakers because it refers to the future unlike our "the other day." -- Plus "lo siento" means not just "I'm sorry" but "I'm sorry about IT" so you don't need the "acerca de" part -- just turn it around -- "Siento lo del día ese" ought to cover it -- "Sorry about (what happened) that day."
