The Golden Darters
Author Elizabeth Winthrop in her short story "The Golden Darter," describes with many details a father and daughter relationship, and how they interacted with each other. This author uses description to describe her father, how she feels, and how she was forced to fish flies with her father. Throughout the story, Emily and her father struggle with their hobbies differences. Emily is young not yet mature to take on the fishing flies adventures that her father wants. The idea of Emily's father asking her to help him overwhelmed her tremendously. Her Father Gerald's disapproval of Emily experiment to use the flies as earnings made him feel betrayed by her actions.
