Using a system of equations where # of Tim's cars = T and # of Bill's cars = B

[1] T+5=B-5

[2] 2(T-5)=B+5

Rearrange [1] to get

[3] T=B-10

Substitute the latter half of [3] into [2]

[4] 2(B-10-5)=B+5

Solve [4] for B

2B-20-10=B+5

B=35

And since [3]

B=35

T=25
