Sad Little Houses
Amparo R. Asuncion
The sad little houses, the poor little houses
Crowd by the riverside;
The holes in their roofs, the crack in the walls,
Vainly they try to hide.
The stench of the river, the dark, muddy river
Is with them night and day;
Pure, fresh air may be had for the moving,
But they can't move away.
They can only stand by the bank of the river
Buried knee-deep in clay;
They can only stare at the drifting garbage,
Until they, too, decay.
And pass away into ghost of houses
Killed by a burning sun,
Smothered with dust and then forgotten-
Forgotten by everyone.
Glad.
I'm a little sad because you won't speak to me.

Trist means sad.
"Sad little houses" is an example of personification, where the houses are given human-like qualities of feeling sadness. This figurative language helps evoke a sense of empathy and emotion towards the inanimate objects in the poem.

I think the message of that poem is this: There are many sad little houses in our lives today. These are the things that we don't tend to mind. We just leave them and day by day they are slowly being forgotten. We forget that we have these things. They slowly decay or rot in our faded memory of them until they are truly forgotten.

The tone of this poem isliberating, uplifting, inspiring, and a little sad.
The heartbeat of a poem. That is a really good question to ask. I write a little poetry myself actually, and i think that poems are all based on your feelings. If you feel sad one day you probably won't write a happy poem. You will write a sad one. Just as if you felt loved, you would write a poem about love. So, a poem isn't a poem unless you have a feeling to it. It all depends on who is writing the poem, and how they feel. Love and Arrows, Erica.
The song "Sad Little Houses" by The Thrills is sung by the band's lead vocalist, Conor Deasy. The lyrics depict a sense of melancholy and wistfulness as the speaker reflects on the passage of time and the feeling of being stuck in a mundane existence.

A sad poem is a piece of verse, rhyming or not, that conveys a somber, melancholic mood. Emily Dickinson wrote a lot of sad poetry.

Since woeful means sad, and ballad means a narrative poem or song, it would be a sad poem or song.
