The San Patricios is the popular name for the Batallon de San Patricio (The Battalion of St. Patrick) a group composed primarily Irish soldiers who fought on the Mexican side in the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846. They were made famous by the book The Irish Soldiers of Mexico by Michael Hogan and also a movie "One Man's Hero" starring Tom Berenger.
