yes they go upsidedown sometimes or keep at bottom facing the ground and dosnt know whether its upright or upsidedown,To prevent this or stop 'The Bends' u have to put salt in your tank and get some beans and peal the skins off when u have done this the Bends will eventually go and your fish will be HAPPY again =)
It is called refraction. When light passes from air to water, it bends. The fish is not where you see it. If you throw your spear at the IMAGE of the fish, you will miss the fish. And go hungry.
Because when light passes from water into are - it refracts or bends. This makes the fish appear to be in a different place to where it actually is. You can demonstrate the effect using a glass of water and a drinking straw. Half-fill a glass with water, then lower one end of a straw into it. You will see the straw 'bends' as it hits the water. It's the same effect in spearing fish.
PVC bends, copper bends, and steel bends are commonly manufactured bends that can be purchased at wholesalers. These bends are used in plumbing and HVAC systems for directing the flow of fluids in pipes and tubing.
Convex when it bends outwards, concave when it bends inwards
A bird aims below a fish when hunting in order to compensate for the distortion caused by the water's refraction. By aiming slightly below the fish, the bird can adjust for the bending of light in the water and increase its chances of catching its prey.
The bends are also known as decompression sickness.

It is in the front of the rod. So when you catch a fish the rod bends and it creates the fulcrum.

To see the fish, light passes from air through the water. As light crosses over from the gas (air) to the liquid( (water) the density increases. The greater density bends (refracts) light, displacing the apparent location of the fish. You must aim at where the fish is, and not where its image is.
