== == == == Liver works well for catfish, as does a dough made from breakfast flakes such as Wheaties and milk. Also canned corn will work for several species of fish. I've heard of people trout fishing with the tiny colored marshmellows, and have used frayed cigarette filters as "flys" to catch bass and bluegills. Catfish will also eat marshmallows, hunks of cheese, and even small pieces of Ivory soap. Mullet and Carp will eat canned whole kernel corn. Any type Brim and some catfish will eat pieces of hot dog wieners. And moist, balled up bread is good for brim,. One thing that catfish will eat that is much tougher (although not near as smelly as Liver). But if you take any type liver, puree it in a food processor, then soak the gizzards in this for a cpl days and it will "bloody up" the gizzards. Also, to hold on liver, take women's panty hose, cut in say 3" squares, put a hunk of liver on this, wrap it up, then tie the panty hose closed with a rubber band. Chicken hearts are also good and can be subbed for the gizzards. ANSWER:Plastic worms and grubs can be made from old broken worms by melting them down and pouring into a mold made up of plaster of Paris or plastic resin. If you are unfamiliar to this because of your age, ask an adult to assist to prevent burning yourself. Plugs and poppers can also be made from home using styrofoam or wood. Dry and wet flies are also good bass baits. Almost every bass bait you see on the shelf can and has been made from the home by someone before it was mass produced and placed into stores. It was done this way for hundreds and thousands of years. The possibiliies are endless. If interested in how to learn to make homemade lures and flies, ask a retailer who sells hand tied flies and follow it to the person who made it and they are usually glad to point you in the right direction and where to get supplies and mentor you as well.

The sky's the limit. If you're low on money. Bread doughballs mashed on a hook are great for bream. Minnows bought at a local tackleshop are the universal baits. You can't go wrong with minnows. Hope this helps!

Generally you can use anything the fish generally eats as bait. Thsi will vary depending on the type of fish you are trying to catch. Common live baits include minnows, worms, leeches, frogs, grubs, wax worms, salmon eggs, crawdad, crickets, etc...

Other types of bait can include corn for Carp and perch eyes for Perch.

Your bait should reflect the fish you are after. For common panfish, worms work as well as anything there is, crickets and wax worm (small white larva) are also excellent. For bass, leeches are very effective, as well as small shiner minnows. For walleye, leeches are #1, and a nightcrawler on a "crawler harness: is also very effective. For trout or salmon, salmon eggs are a good bait. For Northern Pike and Muskie, a large (10") sucker minnow suspended on a hook one foot off the bottom is a classic method.
