Button rifling is referring to how the barrel is manufactured, or actually how the rifling part of the manufacturing process is completed. With button rifling, a plug (called a button) is pulled through the hole in the barrel.

If you want to learn more about different types of rifling, try this web page: http:/www.firearmsid.com/A_bulletIDrifling.htm

A free floating barrel has to do with how the barrel is mounted on the gun. On a free floated barrel, the forend or stock does not come into contact with the barrel. The only place that the barrel will make contact with another part of the gun is where it is attached to the receiver.

This type of system, as opposed to a system where the barrel makes contact with the stock, allows the barrel to flex, or to heat and cool more uniformly, allowing better accuracy in many cases.
