well i am not sure about the others but the world record for a blue catfish is a 124 pounds the guy that caught was from Alton Illinois and he caught it in the Mississippi

A recent story on the Yahoo home page put the record, along with photos, at 130 lbs for the largest Blue Catfish in the world. Caught on the Missouri River in July of this year using a steel leader and a 40# test line.

I was watching River Monsters and Giant Mekong catfish and supposedly weighed 464 pounds although there have been reports of Giant Mekong catfish and some other species weighing as much as 800 to 1000 pounds.

The biggest catfish of all species is the Mekong Giant Catfish. They are native to Thailand and surrounding areas. In June of 2005, a Mekong Giant Catfish was caught in a remote village in Thailand that was as big as a Grizzly Bear and weighed 646 pounds.

In the US the largest catfish is the blue catfish. These catfish are at the top of the food chain in large river systems. They require a large forage base to survive, and display indefinite growth. This means they never stop growing as long as food is plentiful. I have personally caught a 30 pound blue, and have seen fish over 80 pounds. I have some pictures and useful tips for catching these fish at the link that follows. These fish are very fun to catch, and you never know when you may get a whopper. They only live in rivers and lakes with a large forage base like shad, so you won't catch these in a small pond or creek.
