No, it will not. Europe generally uses the PAL system and the USA uses the NTSC and also digital formats. The two are completely incompatible, not to mention the differences in voltages available at the wall socket.

No, in Ireland we use PAL hardware for video output@50 hertz, American tv's use NTSC for video output@ 60 hertz. Both are incompatable and the voltages from mains plugs are also completely different in Ireland and America, the plug form an American tv wouldn't even fit in the socket.

There are several problems with using a North American television in Europe.

North America uses different television frame rate, color encoding, terrestrial tuners and mains voltage power supplies. The television may cope happily with the different frame rates and color systems and it may be able to handle the 230 volts found in Europe. The tuner is unlikely to work with European broadcasts.

Generally, the cost of televisions, even at the higher European prices, are low enough to make it easier and often cheaper to buy locally rather than ship from America.

Best thing to do is look up Japan's TV broadcast standards on the internet, and then the U.S. standards, comparing them side by side.

For standard definition televisions, Japan uses NTSC, just like the US. Both use 59.94Hz as specified in the NTSC standard. However, it is a slightly modified version of NTSC and brightness and contrast will be affected if you use US equipment with a Japanese signal and vice versa. Also, broadcast frequencies are different, cable interfaces are different so a US television may only be good for playback from DVD players and similar equipment.

HD televisions may or may not suffer the same brightness and contrast issues and broadcast interfaces may also be incompatible. Given sufficient time and enthusiasm, a US TV can be made to work in Japan, but it is doubtful if it wold be worth the effort.

Im not sure if the plug will fit but the blu ray games are not region locked so will work on any ps3 but the DVDs are so probobly wont
