The whole world recognizes Shakespeare as the greatest writer in English, and the greatest playwright in any language. There may be a debate whether Shakespeare is the finest writer of anything, when he is in competition with Goethe and Dante and Cervantes and people like that.
Abhor mean to regard with disgust or hatred. It meant the same thing to Shakespeare, who was of course writing in the same language. E.g. in Twelfth Night, Maria says, "he will come to her in yellow stockings, and 'tis a colour she abhors, and cross-gartered, a fashion she detests"

Up to 1598 or so, all of Shakespeare's plays were published anonymously, but thereafter all had his name on the title page, indicating that it was more marketable if people knew it was Shakespeare.

I suppose there's this:"Thus is the native hue of resolution sicklie'd o'er with the pale cast of thought, and enterprises of great pith and moment with this regard their currents turn awry and lose the name of action." (Hamlet, Act 3 Scene 1)
If Shakespeare wrote his plays for Queen Elizabeth it would be because Queen Elizabeth was held in high regard, so Shakespeare would have written the plays in her honor and name. However, Shakespeare did not write his plays for Queen Elizabeth. None of them are dedicated to her, and he wrote most of them after her death.

French is not really difficult to understand for people speaking an European language, especially Spanish or Italian which share the same Latin origin, or even for English-speaking people. That said, taking a language from scratch is always challenging. If you have no knowledge of French, and are already mastering (or have a good understanding) of Hindi, I would regard Hindi as easier.
