He was stabbed by Tony, who attacked him in a fit of anger after he (Bernardo) had killed Riff.
He was stabbed in the stomach by Tony.

because they do nnot want anybody to die again.
in west side story maria and tony are together. in the outsiders nobody is together. in the outsiders johnny and dally die and in wws three people die. in the outsider ponyboy and friends are not a gang they are like brothers and they have no leaderand but in wws they are a gang with a leader
The musical does have some truth to it. Even though it is not completely autobiographical. In the time that the musical was based on the truth was that there was friction between a growing population of Latin American immigrants. Gangs would fight eachother. West Side Story is also a version of Romeo and Juliet if you look at the story line except Maria does not die in the end.
hey there! I'm in 8th grade and i took general music this semester and we watched west side story. my teacher explained to us that the play romeo and Juliet is similar to west side story because tony thinks maria is dead and he wants to die. Juliet thinks romeo is dead and she kills herself. then, maria sees tony dead, and tells them to kill her too, like romeo drinking poison when he sees Juliet. hope this answers your question! p.s. I'm not positive about who died first in romeo and Juliet, but i know that is how they are similar.

There are several people who die in West Side Story, these include Riff (the head of the Jets), Bernardo (the head of the Sharks) and Tony (Maris's lover and old member of Jet gang) It was originally set that Maria would also die just as Juliet did in "Romeo and Juliet", but the writers thought this would be too much death and left the ending open for the audience to decide what happens to Maria and the affect that these tragedies have had on their society.
