The Globe Theatre, famously associated with William Shakespeare, was destroyed by a fire on June 29, 1613, during a performance of "Henry VIII." A cannon, used for special effects, misfired and ignited the thatched roof. The fire spread rapidly, and within an hour, the theatre was in ruins. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, and the theatre was rebuilt the following year, but with a tiled roof to prevent future fires.
