The Globe Theatre signaled that a play was about to begin by raising a flag above its roof. A white flag indicated a comedy, a black flag signified a tragedy, and a red flag represented a history play. Additionally, the sound of a Trumpet might have been used to announce the start of the performance. These signals helped inform the public about the type of play being performed that day.

The last play performed at the Globe theater was in 1613. It was a play by Shakespeare called Henry Vlll.

Before Set stages or theatres plays were normally preformed in pubs and such or large outdoor spaces. Play's were preformed durng the day to make use of natural sunlight. The Theater, the Curtain, the Hope, and the Swan all preceded the building of the Globe.
I could be wrong, but I believe that the play was performed during the day.

It was not called the Globe Theatre because it is shaped like a globe, since it was not that shape. It was in fact the same shape as the theatres called The Theatre, The Curtain, The Rose, The Swan and The Hope. The reason it was called the Globe is because the audience could see "all the world" on the stage there. Shakespeare frequently compared the world to a stage. The GlobeThe metaphor of the theater as a whole world in itself runs throughout Shakespeare. 'The Globe' was probably a reference to the fact that the actors create a world for the audience. The globe would hang a flag up when a play was on. The globe was very noisy even when a play was on, there were often riots and fights. It is a reference to the Shakespeare quote, "All the World's a Stage…"
It is a word invented by Shakespeare which refers to a street pick pocket. He used the word as an insult. It would be used at the Globe Theater if they were presenting a Shakespearean play.
Shakespeare was part owner of two theatres, The Globe Theatre and The Blackfriars. He called the Globe Theatre the Wooden "O" in his play Henry V because it was built almost circular with an open courtyard in the middle. The Blackfriars was an indoor theatre, designed very much like theatres today with a thrust stage and seating both on the floor and in galleries. The Globe Theater.
At the globe theatre they hung flags to represent what type of play it was. Black represented Tragedy. White was hung for a humorous play.
