Basically, yeah, i wouldn't get too creative because, if he says no (even though I'm sure he wont...) its less of a let down than if your standing there with a milllion red roses or watever and then you're like.. oh.
But I know from experience that it is scary. Firstly, make sure that you're alone. You don't want pther people there. First, I would say "Hey, do you have a date to the sadie's yet?" That way if they say, "yeah, becky asked me." You can be like "Oh fun! Yea I love becky etc." so he doesnt have to turn you down. but if he says no then just say, "Do you wanna come with me?"
