A very basic outline of Romeo and Juliet is:
Romeo meets a beautiful girl named Juliet who he falls in love with.
She is a member of a family that Romeo's family is at conflict with.
There love is forbidden, but they go against it and pledge themselves to each other.
Juliet, in order to be with Romeo, pretends to kill himself, but he does not know.
Romeo finds Juliet in her predend death, believes it is real and kills himself right beside her!
Juliet wakes up, realises what has happened and she also truly kills herself.
there is a bit more to it than that but that should do :-)
Your intro depends on your topic on Romeo and Juliet. the intro should catch the readers attention and draw them into the essay.
I just wrote an essay on how Romeo and Juliet's deceit got them into trouble and i started it with:
Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play woven of deceit and lies.
if you had a topic such as how their love got them into trouble you could say something like:
The results of Romeo and Juliet's love were trouble.
The lead doesn't necessarily have to be long; it should just get the reader's attention and make the essay seem interesting.
Are you planning to rewrite the play? Or could this be for an essay? If it is for an essay, your introduction, as with all introductions to essays, should describe what you intend to talk about in the essay, and what you intend not to talk about in the essay, and what question or questions you propose to address. In essay writing it is always a good idea to know what you plan to say in the conclusion before you actually write the introduction. So, if your essay will show that the character of Juliet is a thinly-disguised man and the play is really all about homoeroticism (good luck with that!) your introduction should point in that direction: "Romeo and Juliet is a well-known love story. But what kind of love was Shakespeare trying to portray? There are clear indications in the text that it was the love of two men for each other."

Romeo and Juliet (1935), Romeo & Juliet (1968) and Romeo+Juliet (1996).
At the beginning of the play before seeing Juliette, Romeo is in love with Rosaline.

Two "love birds" kissing that is my opinion.
Rosaline
Start the play after he kills himself
When she first saw him, she knew that there had to be something imposible about him from the start. She was right, he was a Monotauge.

Act 2, Scene 4
Professor Martin asked the class to read Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, as an introduction to the language Shakespeare used to write his plays.
This would be Tybalt.
