Lord Capulet gives a list of his invited guests to his servant (can't remember his name - Peter???), telling him to invite them all to his ball. Unfortunately, the servant can't read and has to ask someone in the street to help him. He asks Romeo and Benvolio, and they read the list out to him. Grateful for their help, the servant (not recognising them) tells them that if they are not Montagues, they should come and have a drink at the ball, then leaves. While reading the list, Romeo sees the name of the girl he is in love with, Rosaline. He decides to go to the ball to see her. Benvolio agrees to go so that Romeo can compare Rosaline to some other girls in the hopes that he will realise there are more fish in the sea and get over his unrequited love. Hope this helps!
