Why does Oedipus doubt what Teiresias tells him about the identity of Laius' murderer?
He does not know that the person he killed on the road from Corinth was Laius.

But, since Oedipus didn't know who Laius was, he had no idea that he had killed his father (since he thought his Corinthian adoptive father Polybus was his biological father). Oedipus was not a bad man, but his crimes were about what he did, not what he meant to do. * Since the above was written, it has occurred to this contributor that some may argue, "No, he didn't!
